Seekaboo: A Citywide Walking Exploration Game

Seekaboo is a design for the CHI 2010 Student Design Competition. The design challenge was to "Design an object, interface, system or service intended to encourage people to take a walk".

Our approach is to avoid creating some kind of application or other technology that a user would have to purchase or carry with them. We also realized that changing behavior is extremely difficult, and so wanted to motivate the users by designing a game, instead of merely providing them with information such as steps taken.

Seekaboo is an adaptable, puzzle based hide-and-go-seek style game that can be placed throughout an small area or across an entire city. The game is designed to encourage mothers and their small children to work together to solve the puzzles and have adventures.
